ALFRED STIEGLITZ

nato nel New Jersey nel 1864 Siteglitz è considerato a ragione il padre della fotografia moderna. Sin dal 1902 con la fondazione della Photo-Secession-Gallery si dedicò alla divulgazione di quella che egli considerava l'arte figurativa al pari di tutte le altre. Nel 1903 fonda la rivista fotografica Camera Work. Studiò ingegneria a Berlino e fu anche mercante d'arte. Fu grande amico e maestro di Ansel Adams. Muore a New York nel 1946.

Born in New Jersey in 1864. Stieglitz is considered the father of modern photography. Since 1902, with the foundation of the Photo-Secession-Gallery, he dedicated his time to what is considered as figurative art. In 1903, he founded the photographic magazine Camera Work. He studied engineering in Berlin and was also a merchant of art. He was a great friend and teacher of Ansel Adams. He died in 1946 in New York.
